Connect with Apple Health for automatic workout sync, health data integration, and bi-directional data flow. One unified health dashboard powered by HealthKit.

Connect Apple Health Now

Your health ecosystem

Heart Tracker integrates with Apple Health (HealthKit) to give you a complete view of your health data. Import weight from your smart scale. Sync workouts to track calories burned. See your calorie balance update automatically. Watch how exercise and diet work together to affect your weight, cholesterol, and overall health.

Why Apple Health Integration Matters

Automatic Workout Sync

Every workout from your Apple Watch, Peloton, Strava, or any HealthKit-connected fitness app automatically appears in Heart Tracker. See how exercise affects your calorie balance and heart health without manual entry. Track running, cycling, swimming, strength training, yoga, and 70+ activity types.

Bi-Directional Data Flow via HealthKitManager

Heart Tracker's HealthKitManager writes your nutrition data to Apple Health (calories, macros, vitamins, minerals, meal timestamps and names, daily water intake totals) while reading body metrics (height, weight, DOB, biological sex), activity data (workouts with calories, active calories, steps), heart health (resting heart rate, VO2 max, blood pressure), and sleep data. Everything stays synchronized across all your health apps.

Health Vitals & Weight Tracking

View key health metrics from Apple Health displayed directly in Heart Tracker's dashboard: Body Weight (from smart scales like Withings or Garmin), Blood Pressure (systolic/diastolic with color-coded status), and Resting Heart Rate (BPM). The HealthVitalsSection updates automatically when you step on your scale or take a blood pressure reading—no manual entry needed.

Sleep & Activity Sync

Import sleep duration and quality from Apple Watch or third-party sleep apps. View workouts with timestamps and calories burned in your meal diary. Track daily steps automatically. The app integrates all activity metrics to show how exercise and rest affect your health patterns.

Profile Pre-Fill

During onboarding, if you connect Apple Health, your height, weight, date of birth, and gender auto-populate from HealthKit. You'll see a small heart icon next to pre-filled fields, and you can still edit any value if needed—saving time on initial setup.

Privacy First

All data syncing happens locally on your device through HealthKit's secure framework. Your health data never goes through our servers. You control exactly what data Heart Tracker can read or write in Apple Health settings.

How Apple Health sync works

Grant permissions

When you first open Heart Tracker, you'll be prompted to connect with Apple Health. Choose which data types you want to share - you have complete control over every category: workouts, nutrition, cholesterol, heart rate, sleep, and more.

Automatic background sync

Once connected, Heart Tracker automatically syncs with Apple Health in the background. Finished a workout on your Apple Watch? It appears in Heart Tracker within seconds. Logged a meal in Heart Tracker? The nutrition data flows to Apple Health instantly.

Example Workflow:

Morning: Finish a 5K run tracked on Apple Watch → Automatically appears in Heart Tracker with calories burned

Lunch: Log meal in Heart Tracker → Nutrition data syncs to Apple Health

Evening: Check daily summary → See net calories accounting for both food and exercise

View unified data

See all your health metrics in one place within Heart Tracker. Your dashboard shows workouts, nutrition, cholesterol trends, heart rate data, and weight changes - giving you a complete picture of your cardiovascular health.

Continuous updates

The integration works continuously. Log data in any HealthKit app and it flows to Heart Tracker. Make changes in Heart Tracker and they sync to Apple Health. Your health data stays unified across your entire Apple ecosystem.

See Your Calorie Balance

Heart Tracker automatically calculates your net calories by combining what you eat with what you burn. Log meals to track calories consumed. Workouts from Apple Watch sync to show calories burned. The math happens automatically.

Example Daily Balance:

• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner: 1,800 calories consumed
• Morning run (Apple Watch): 400 calories burned
• Afternoon walk: 150 calories burned
Net Calories: 1,250 (1,800 - 550)

Perfect for weight management. You see exactly how exercise offsets your meals. No manual calculations needed.

Real-World Integration Benefits

Weight Loss Made Simple:

Jessica runs 4 times per week using her Apple Watch. Every run syncs with calories burned. Her Withings scale syncs her weight. She logs meals with voice entry. In one dashboard, she sees calories eaten, calories burned, and weight trending down. Lost 12 pounds in 2 months by watching her calorie balance.

Multi-App Ecosystem:

Tom uses Peloton for cycling, Strava for running, and Apple Fitness+ for strength training. All three apps sync to Apple Health, which means all his workouts automatically flow into Heart Tracker. He gets a unified view of his fitness activity from multiple sources.

Full Health Picture:

Maria tracks her weight with a Withings smart scale that syncs to Apple Health. She monitors her sleep with AutoSleep. She logs nutrition in Heart Tracker. All three data streams come together in Apple Health's dashboard, giving her doctor a comprehensive view of her health improvements over 6 months.

Fitness-Diet Correlation:

David started exercising regularly while improving his diet. With automatic workout sync, he can see exactly how increased cardio exercise (tracked via VO2 Max improvements) correlates with his dropping cholesterol levels over 3 months - all visualized on trend charts.

Advanced integration features

Calorie Balance

See net calories automatically calculated: Calories Consumed (from meals) minus Active Calories (from workouts) equals your daily balance. Perfect for weight management alongside cholesterol control.

Historical Data Import

When you first connect Apple Health, Heart Tracker can import historical workout data from the past 30 days, giving you immediate access to your recent activity history.

Conflict Resolution

If you track the same workout in multiple apps, Heart Tracker intelligently detects duplicates and prevents double-counting calories or exercise time.

Real-Time Updates

Finish a workout and check Heart Tracker immediately - the workout appears in seconds. The integration is near-instantaneous, not batch-processed overnight.

Works Across Devices

Your Apple Health data syncs across all your devices via iCloud. Log meals on your iPhone, check workout summary on your iPad - everything stays synchronized.

Rich Workout Details

Not just basic info - see detailed workout metadata including heart rate zones, split times, elevation gain (for runs/cycles), and pool length (for swimming).

Pro tips for Apple Health integration

Grant Full Permissions

For the best experience, allow Heart Tracker to read workouts, heart rate, sleep, and weight, and write nutrition and cholesterol data. You can always adjust permissions later in Settings.

Use Apple Watch

If you have an Apple Watch, use the native Workout app for automatic, reliable tracking. It provides the richest data including heart rate zones, GPS routes, and elevation.

Check Data Sources

In Apple Health, tap any metric → Show All Data → Data Sources & Access to see which apps are providing data. Prioritize your preferred apps to avoid conflicts.

Enable Background Refresh

In Settings → Heart Tracker → Background App Refresh, make sure it's turned ON. This allows automatic syncing even when the app isn't open.

Verify Sync Status

In Heart Tracker settings, tap "Apple Health Sync Status" to see when data was last synced and troubleshoot any connection issues.

One Source for Nutrition

While you can track nutrition in multiple apps that sync to Apple Health, using Heart Tracker as your primary nutrition app ensures the most accurate cholesterol-focused tracking.
